The Intention of the Salesian Youth Center and Leisure Activities for Children
KNOSOVÁ, Jana
This bachelor thesis engages with the question what is the role of the Salesian Youth Centre in how the children spend their leisure time in České Budějovice. The main aim of this thesis is to find out which leisure activities the Salesian Youth Centre offers and which leisure activities the children prefer. Another aim is also to find out the motivation of children who come to participate in leisure activities of Salesian Youth Centre. The thesis consists of theoretical and empirical part. The theoretical part is divided into 5 subchapters. The first subchapter deals with the introduction of Salesians and also introduces their founder Don Bosco. Moreover, this subchapter deals with the foundation of the first Oratory and last but not least it elaborates on precautionary style and principles of the salesian upbringing. The second subchapter engages with the introduction of the Salesian Youth Centre in České Budějovice. The third subchapter deals with the activities of the Centre. There is listed the programme of leisure activities the Centre provides. The fourth subchapter defines the leisure time, its function, the possibilities of leisure time and also the risks which leisure time brings. The last, fifth subchapter of the theoretical part deals with social work in the Salesian Youth Centre, not only with children and adolescents, but also with families. The empirical part deals solely with the results of research. The main research question read: "What is the role of the Salesian Youth Centre in how children spend their leisure time?" It was divided into two particular research questions: "What is the reason of children visiting the Salesian Youth Centre?" and "How is the visit of the Salesian Youth Centre helpful for the children?" To acquire the needed information, qualitative research was made, by using the method of questioning and the technique of half-structured interview. The research set was chosen with the use of purpose-built quota sampling. The communication partners of the age 10-15 were chosen from the open club Oratory. The research set consisted of 5 communication partners, who were willing to participate in the research. The research came through in two phases. At first a pre-research was made, then the research itself. The interview was shot on dictaphone and rewritten word for word. The acquired data were evaluated by means of so called tussocks. The resulting data were structured by particular research questions. The research brought answers to the stated questions. It was found out that the children visit the Centre because it provides them with background, where they can securely play and contact the workers with any question for advice or help. The Centre provides the help with education as well, in the form of leisure programme Tutoring. From the research emerged that the role of the Salesian Youth Centre is very significant in the leisure time of children. It tries to show the children, how meaningfully they can spend their leisure time. The results of the bachelor thesis can be used to further work with the children and adolescents. Eventually they can be also provided at the meeting of the National council of Salesians, where are the matters of working with children and adolescents discussed as well.

Trhove Sviny Secondary School Pupils' Knowledge on Health and Social Aspects of Self-harm Issues
TOURKOVÁ, Lucie
The issue of self-harm belongs to socio pathological behaviour which often occurs at primary schools. I myself came across this behaviour while attending my primary school and I felt there was lack of information in the context of preventive programs and lectures. The aim of my work is to determine the pupils' level of awareness about health and social aspects of self-harm and then describe their existing knowledge on this issue. I would also like to find out whether the pupils in the ninth grade (14-15 years old) know more about this problem than the sixth graders (11-12 years old). A qualitative data collection in a form of a questionnaire was used to confirm or refute the hypothesis about the awareness of the primary school pupils in Trhové Sviny. This questionnaire method was specifically designed for pupils of 6th and 9th grade. My bachelor thesis clarifies the basic understanding of this issue from divergent definitions. It points out how it is neglected at primary schools and how preventive actions should be focused on mental and emotional health care. I find my thesis useful in a way that it helps both teachers and parents obtain the necessary information concerning this issue. Moreover, it may be helpful for those who would like to know the reasons and cause for self-injury and they have decided to put aside any prejudice associated with this problem. This thesis will certainly be useful even for the adolescent self-harmers themselves. Here they can find techniques which might help them avert the actual act of self-harming and advise them how to find the strength to solve their problems in the form of social services, crisis services or anonymous services.
MONITORING OF SOCIALLY TOLERATED ADDICTIVE SUBSTANCES USING BY CHILDREN AT BASIC SCHOOLS
TEPLÁ, Simona
The main goal of this bachelor thesis is to map the problems of using socially tolerated addictive substances (alcohol, tobacco, medicines misuse, caffeine, anabolic substances) by children at basic schools and to find out differences or similarities between children living in the countryside and children living in the town, in term of their preference and attitude to the addictive substances. This thesis also verifies two specified hypotheses. To collect data was used the questionnaire given pupils of the ninth grades in the basic schools. Nowadays the risk of using addictive substances is still increasing. This bachelor thesis can be used as an information source of the actual state of using addictive substances and can be also helpful for providing effective prevention.
